The knowledge of the “rational soul” is the most important epistemological issue in the teachings of Rajab Ali Tabrizi. The importance of this issue for him is so great that he has tied the understanding of the “truth of science” to it. This research, by posing a question regarding “the knowledge of the rational soul and its connection with the levels of science,” attempts to explain and evaluate the sage’s view using a descriptive-analytical method. Tabrizi provides a rational argument for the abstraction of the types of souls (vegetative, animal, and rational) and also for the refutation of the theory of the “physical occurrence of the soul.” However, next, describing the rational soul as the “greatest divine name,” he refrains from further explaining the matter. Hakim Tabrizi invites those interested in knowing the soul to reflect on religious texts, to conduct spiritually, and to accompany divine scholars. In this issue, he has not only gone far beyond the content of Peripatetic but has also deviated from their method. Tabrizi's tone in explaining the truth of the soul is very mystical and transcendental. To explain the "truth of knowledge," he explains each of the three levels of the soul's perceptions (sensory, imaginary, and rational) along with their rules and requirements. Tabrizi's statement about the sensory and imaginary perceptions of man is presented in the style of the Peripatetics, but he establishes a close connection between the rational perceptions of the real man and the knowledge of the rational soul.
