According to Rorty, the linguistic turn was a revolution that should dissolve the realist and anti-realist conflicts. Still, realism has been so influential throughout the history of philosophy that even linguistic philosophers such as the logical positivists, who openly knew their position against metaphysics, could not fully get rid of it. This was due to the basis of the truth correspondence theory and the other side of this coin, the representation theory, in the philosophy of language of analytical philosophers. By insisting on the philosophers who abandon these two mentioned theories in favor of subject-object unity, Rorty tries to argue that truth is a primitive concept and it depends on language itself, not extra-linguistic things. Therefore, when the truth returns to the language, there is no room for a reality beyond the language that the user must use to represent and achieve truth. Finally, his goal is to show that the language user is always in direct contact with the outside world as one of the causal conditions for the creation of our language games and not as an explanation and justification of the propositions of our single language. Therefore, Rorty allows a pure philosophy of language by discarding the boundaries of language and all dualities, in which realism is doomed to dissolve.
